Agriculture & Livelihood Enhancement
Improving farm-based income and strengthening the rural economy
Watershed Development Programs
2001-2004Comprehensive watershed management across 9 districts under DPAP, IWDP, TNCWP, and NWDPRA schemes, focusing on soil and water conservation, and sustainable agriculture.
Key Activities:
- Management of 248 watersheds across 9 districts
- Rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge
- Land development and reclamation programs
- Construction of check dams and percolation tanks
- Social forestry and orchard plantations
Integrated Farming Systems
2010-2011Demonstration model integrating agroforestry, horticulture, dairy, mushroom cultivation, and vermicompost units to showcase sustainable farming practices.
Key Activities:
- Integrated farming demonstration in Karur district
- Agroforestry and horticulture integration
- Dairy farming with backyard poultry
- Mushroom cultivation and vermicompost production
- Post-harvest management training
Skill Development & Training Programs
2004-2014Extensive training programs on organic farming, livestock management, and modern agricultural techniques to enhance farmer capabilities and productivity.

- Training on organic farming for 2,345 farmers
- Scientific goat farming training for 1,775 farm women
- Backyard poultry training for 935 marginal farmers
- Vermicompost technology training for 1,367 farmers
- Farm Field Schools on major crops
Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)
2015-2023Promoting FPOs across Dindigul and Thiruvarur districts, focusing on collective farming, marketing, and value chain development for sustainable agriculture.
Key Activities:
- Formation and strengthening of 4 FPOs
- Enrollment of 1,082 farmers in FPOs
- Collective procurement and marketing
- Training on FPO management for 600 farmers
- Focus on hill garlic, maize, paddy, and groundnut
Women Farmer Empowerment Programs
2019-2021Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP) empowering women farmers through training in sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry practices.
Key Activities:
- MKSP program empowering 5,000 women farmers
- Training 2,134 women in Organic Agriculture
- Formation of 100 Joint Liability Groups (JLGs)
- Women-led agricultural enterprises
- Sustainable farming practices promotion
Dairy Development Projects
2021-2023Sustainable livelihood enhancement through scientific management of dairy animals, including formation of Tharangampatti Dairy Farmers Producer Company and milk collection centers.

- Formation of Tharangampatti Dairy Farmers Producer Company
- Training 260 women farmers in scientific dairy management
- Establishment of 10 milk collection centers
- Daily handling of 1,800 litres of milk
