Understanding

What sanitation & hygiene infrastructure means

What is sanitation & hygiene infrastructure?

Sanitation & hygiene infrastructure is the built foundation of community health — toilets, waste management systems and drainage facilities, plus the hygiene education that keeps them working — ensuring proper waste management, hygiene practices and disease prevention.

Our programmes encompass the construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs), school toilets and community sanitary complexes with proper waste treatment, alongside solid waste management systems and comprehensive awareness campaigns — 5,000+ toilets built and 90% sanitation coverage achieved in target communities.

We work with government initiatives like the Total Sanitation Campaign and Swachh Bharat Mission, as well as corporate partners and municipal corporations, to create sustainable sanitation solutions and promote behavioral change towards better hygiene practices — benefiting 10,000+ people in 50+ communities.

Why this work matters

The challenge on the ground — and our answer

The challenge

Homes and schools without toilets

Where households, schools and public spaces lack sanitation facilities, disease spreads and dignified living is out of reach.

Our response

Build the facilities communities need

5,000+ Individual Household Latrines, school toilets and community sanitary complexes — achieving 90% sanitation coverage in target communities.

The challenge

Waste with nowhere safe to go

Without collection, segregation and treatment systems, household waste accumulates and degrades whole living environments.

Our response

End-to-end waste systems

Daily collection, segregation and sustainable disposal — including composting and recycling — benefiting entire municipalities.

The challenge

Infrastructure alone doesn't stop disease

Waterborne and sanitation-related diseases keep spreading where hygiene practices don't change alongside the facilities.

Our response

Education that changes behavior

Extensive awareness campaigns and education programmes promote proper hygiene practices and behavioral change in 50+ communities.

The challenge

Facilities fail without upkeep and ownership

Sanitation infrastructure built without community ownership falls out of use once construction ends.

Our response

Community-owned, built to last

We engage communities in planning, implementation and ownership, and establish systems for ongoing maintenance and operation of every facility.
