What are disease-specific interventions?
Disease-specific interventions are targeted health programmes designed to address specific diseases, infections or health conditions through focused prevention, control and treatment strategies.
These interventions concentrate on particular conditions such as HIV/AIDS, COVID-19 and vector-borne diseases, with specialised approaches tailored to the unique characteristics, transmission patterns and risk factors of each — 5 target diseases addressed across our work.
Our programmes reach high-risk populations with evidence-based prevention, awareness campaigns and coordination with health authorities for effective disease control. Working with vulnerable communities, migrants, urban slum populations and other at-risk groups, we have reached 25,000+ people across 15 high-risk communities to prevent transmission and provide appropriate care and support.

In dense urban slums, COVID-19 spread fast while the most vulnerable households stayed invisible to the health system.

The COVID-19 community intervention programme mapped urban slums, identified vulnerable populations, ran awareness drives and coordinated with health authorities.
The challenge
Mosquitoes breed at the doorstep
Stagnant water in and around homes breeds the mosquitoes that carry dengue and malaria through whole neighbourhoods.
Our response
Find and eliminate breeding grounds
Domestic breeding checkers identify and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds house by house, preventing vector-borne disease before it starts.
The challenge
Low awareness lets preventable disease spread
Without disease-specific knowledge, at-risk communities miss the early signs and the simple behaviours that stop transmission.

Education, early detection, local control
