What is plantation & afforestation?
Plantation refers to the systematic cultivation of trees on agricultural or non-forested land, while afforestation involves establishing forests on lands that have not been forested in recent history.
Plantation and afforestation are our comprehensive environmental interventions aimed at increasing forest cover, restoring degraded landscapes, and enhancing biodiversity. Since 2000, Coodu Trust has pioneered sustainable tree planting initiatives that transform entire ecosystems across 14 districts of Tamil Nadu.
Our programs focus on creating sustainable green cover through scientifically planned tree planting initiatives. We emphasize native species selection, community participation, and long-term maintenance to ensure optimal tree survival rates and lasting environmental impact.

Without nearby nurseries and trained growers, planting drives depend on distant, unreliable seedling stock.

Build nurseries, train communities
5 nurseries established — including a hi-tech nursery in Karur district — with communities trained in seedling production and nursery management.
